Susan Abel studied music for two years at UNH. Her teachers include Linda Andersen and Douglas Worthen. She joined the Flute Choir when it was founded in 1995 while attending Continental Academie for Cosmetology. She now manages the Chelmsford, MA Supercuts. Susie was recently married to Jeff and was delighted to have the flute choir play for her wedding.
Terri Bair joined the flute choir in 2006. She played flute in the school band as a child and is excited to be playing again, studying with Linda True. She lives in Hollis with her husband, daughter and cat.
Kristine Brock also plays piccolo, Native American cedar flute, classical and acoustic guitar, and is a member of the Hollis Town Band and an early music string and wind ensemble, The Gypsy Consort. Kristine is also an artist and teaches children’s art classes at Juliet’s Art Shoppe in Brookline, where she lives with her husband, three sons, and two cats.
Cheryl Cummings has been performing with the MVFC since 1997. She studies with Marjorie Hogan. Cheryl is a retired Assistant Principal with the Dracut Public Schools.
Laura Finkelstein joined the flute choir in 2007. She also plays piccolo in the Concord Band and has performed at in Greater Boston as a member of Trio Cordefiato. Laura also plays in pit orchestras, solos regularly at St. John’s Church in Sudbury, and has performed at numerous concerts at the historic Shirley Meetinghouse. She has played with the Metropolitan Flute Festival Orchestra and at the Greater Boston Flute Association Flute Fair. She studied flute with Michelle Sahm.
Joy Iaquinta has a BA in Music Education/Performance from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Nashua Chamber Orchestra and has also performed with the NH Philharmonic Orchestra. She teaches music at Presentation of Mary Academy, has a flute and piano studio in her home, and performs regularly for several area churches.
Pam LeBow played flute in school and then put it down for several years. She plays bass guitar with rock band and is currently learning the sax. She has been with the MVFC since it was founded in 1995. Professionally, she manages a retail store and lives with her husband Pete in Nashua. Lisa Lucius has been playing the flute for 21 years. She joined the MVFC in 1998, shortly after moving to Nashua from her native Vermont. Lisa also enjoys performing with her husband Matt in the Lexington Bicentennial Band and singing alto in her church choir. She works as a secretary for the Andover Organ Company.
Meg Noah plays C flute, but her day job is programming (often in C). When she isn't busy with two children, two Jack Russell Terriers (Capt. Jack Sparrow and Troy), two Dutch rabbits (Baxter and Arwen), and coaching a LEGO robotics team, then she is actively seeking the ideal headjoint for her two flutes (Haynes and Pearl).
Marjorie Ostroski teaches at Milford Christian Academy. She also teaches private lessons on flute, saxophone, guitar, and piano at a local music studio. Marjie also plays in her church's worship group, and the Amherst and Temple Town Bands.
Pam Parkinson is a recently retired instrumental music teacher. Her primary instruments are trumpet and percussion. She has added the flute to her menagerie of instruments to keep herself busy in her newly-found spare time.
Deirdre Rees plays C flute, alto, and bass flute with the flute choir and piccolo, Renaissance, and Baroque flutes in other ensembles. She and her husband also enjoy playing Irish flute. Deirdre is a published scientist in several fields, and she and her husband have two adopted greyhounds, Zip Cody and Caramel Rapper, who eagerly anticipate her much needed practice sessions.
Julie Ritari has been playing the flute since grade school and has continued playing for fun. She has performed with the Fitchburg High School Alumni Band and her church’s worship team. This is her first season with MVFC.
Sandy Roy has been with the Flute Choir since 2001. Originally from North Adams, MA, she began playing flute in fifth grade. She has studied flute with Lisa Jenkins and Linda True. Sandy graduated from Rivier College in 2004. She is a first grade special education teacher in the Derry School District.
Cindy Winsor has been performing with the Flute Choir since it was founded in 1995. She also enjoys performing with the Nashua Flute Choir and at her church. Cindy holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Merrimack College. Cindy has busy raising three children with her husband, John, in Londonderry, and recently started a new career as a flutemaker.
